Topical and VERY funny joke

It is near the Christmas break of the school year. The students have turned in all their work and there is really nothing more to do. All the children are restless and the teacher decides to have an early dismissal.

Teacher: "Whoever answers the questions I ask, first and correctly can leave early today."
Little Johnny says to himself "Good, I want to get outta here. I'm smart and will answer the question."
Teacher: "Who said 'Four Score and Seven Years Ago'?"
Before Johnny can open his mouth, Susie says, "Abraham Lincoln."
Teacher: "That's right Susie, you can go home..."
Johnny is mad that Susie answered the question first.
Teacher: "Who said 'I Have a Dream'?"
Before Johnny can open his mouth, Mary says, "Martin Luther King."
Teacher: "That's right Mary, you can go."
Johnny is even madder than before.
Teacher: "Who said 'Ask not, what your country can do for you'?"
Before Johnny can open his mouth, Nancy says, "John F. Kennedy."
Teacher: "That's right Nancy, you may also leave."
Johnny is boiling mad that he has not been able to answer to any of the questions.
When the teacher turns her back Johnny says, "I wish these bitches would keep their mouths shut!"
The teacher turns around: "NOW WHO SAID THAT?"
Johnny: "TIGER WOODS. CAN I GO NOW?"

Now I HAVE to keep this sthing current!

I have decided to leave Facebook. Tired of the endless "improvements" that make it worse and worse to use not to mention the continual elimination of my privacy rights. So, I am going to try my best to just use this as my forum instead. Join the RSS feed and stay in touch!!

HOLY CRAP!!! August 12th?

I can't believe it's been that long since my last post. Needless to say, the house has kept me far too busy as has life in general. I have some photos and videos to get up here as well, so stay tuned.

Sam's room ready for primer.

Lots of drywall in Jack's room

Why would you spackle a nail hole and then paint it without sanding? Ther were literally 50 -60 spots on the walls in this house.

What a drag it is getting old

I accept the fact that I'm getting older. I recognize that fact every time I look in the mirror and see more gray in my beard, more wrinkles on my face and those damned hairs that grow everywhere but my head. Tonight though, is the first time that my age has really impeded me. I have a fairly severe case of carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist which flares up on occasion. With all of the work on the house, specifically the drywall work, it has flared up in a big way. It got so bad tonight that I had to resign myself to the fact that I can no longer finish the drywall that I started. Because my hand goes into various stages of numbness, I can't apply the correct amount of pressure or angle on the blade. This has led me to the unfortunate realization that:
  1. I'm old
  2. I have to hire a contractor to finish it
  3. I have to pay said contractor too much money to finish it
  4. I'm old
1 and 4 bother me the most. I can live with 2 and 3.

Kitchen Arch

This is where the original tchotchke shelves used to be. I framed them, hung drywall and began trying to make them match up to the original plaster walls.

This is just the first of several coats of mud that will be required to make it smooth.

Insulating Sam's room

After taking off the wood paneling, I found the back wall had no insulation so Dani went to work with some foam board.

Full garage

We made the "big" trip to Home Depot for most of the big stuff. Knowing that I have to install all of this makes me tired thinking of it.

Demo in Sam's room

Rear wall

Closet wall

Each piece of paneling was individually nailed to the wall with 16d finish nails. For the non construction inclined, that means they nails were really big and it was all I could do to get the boards off the wall without snapping each one. We are going to either try and re-sell the wood or re-purpose it.
